Khler's Bungalow is now available on DVD in the U.S. I can't wait to see it!

Windows on Monday and Longing, however, remain without any sort of distribution.

I can't wait to read your opinion.

You know that I think it is one of the best films about Germany I have seen this decade (only Schanelec's sublime Marseille comes close).

Quote A,"There seem to be many critical voices about "Downfall" or "The Lives of Others", but they are not as many as the supporting ones. ... But I haven't watched these two films yet (not really interested) so I probably shouldn't open my mouth too wide. Nevertheless i thought Hirschbiegel's "The Experiment" (2000) to be a very good "commercial" effort."

Quote arsaib4,""But I haven't watched these two films yet (not really interested) so I probably shouldn't open my mouth too wide." Good choice! "Nevertheless i thought Hirschbiegel's "The Experiment" (2000) to be a very good "commercial" effort." Agreed. And if it had avoided the genre cliches during the later stages, it would've been much more penetrating."

My humble take

"The Lives of Others" - the best film in 2006 (maybe becos i was willing to overlook the historical accuracy of it, but it really touches, a great film abt humanity)

"Downfall" - i like it, a "sincere" piece of work, but it was NOT mind blowing ...

"The Experiment" - the beginning was good, but the ending was bad ...

Yes, you've pronounced your love for The Lives of Others on a number of occasions already, but not everyone is on its overflowing bandwagon.

Interesting. I loved the ending of Das Experiment (2000) most of all. It's been a while since I've seen the film, though. Still nothing on the other two. When will I catch up?
