I found the Japanese segments sloppy. There was poor coverage and the editing was amateurish. The rest of the film didn't leave enough of an impression on me to adequately comment on it a year later. Yimou seems better suited to martial arts epics now, and I'm all in favor of it.

Well judging by the wall to wall spectacularly staged choreography in Curse of the Golden Flower, the opening and closing of the Olympics next year should be a huge success as these are also being directed by Zhang Yimou.
