I watched this one last week. I felt the visuals were wonderful as you expressed. Of course I loved the back drop of Bavaria. I am still wondering what town it was shot in. I did, however, feel that story line what not fantastic, and moves a little. Still worth watching. A welcome change from most American films.

a pleasant surprise. tkywer likes playing with different visual styles (music video, naturalism, continuity), somewhat like herzog - finding the style for the material rather than imprinting his "own" method on everything. the dissolve through the girl kissing the skier at the end was wonderful! i'm not quite certain how landscape effects characterisation in this film but it seems worth interpreting. about the only comparison i can draw among his 2 films i have seen is that he seems to have a healthy sense of irony. i wonder if he'll get that green card? ;)

(well, i forgot the obvious: externalising emotion with camera movements and non-diegetic music.)
