Dead or Alive (1999) - Takashi Miike

Oh lord. I'm always curious to see a trilogy or a sequel made when a film has a very definite and final ending. I have the entire trilogy at my disposal and will get around to it shortly I hope. The first installment is all levels of routine plot depicting the age old conflict between criminal and cop. However with a feverish bag of tricks Miike makes the film anything but conventional. The opening is superb and well I'm still scratching my head at the conclusion. However a few great gags make this film stand out above most of Miike's work and elevated above the genre.
