The Making of Fanny and Alexander (Sweden)

For those of you who love Fanny and Alexander, this DVD on the making of that film is just wonderful. Joyous. And it gives such good shots of Bergman working with the children and others.

Also on the DVD is an hour long interview with Bergman (with film clips) which touches on his thoughts about death and life. Just wonderful.

Please. If you love this movie, go out and rent/buy the Making of F&A.

I found it very moving, fun loving (Bergman's working with the children shows what a good time he and the children were having) and full of information. He says on the interview that the children had no scripts - but were given their lines each day. And he says how they (the children) came bounding in every day with enthusiasm ready to go. He also said that for every 3 minutes of film the takes numbered sometimes 100 and would take a whole day for just 3 minutes.

Please. If you love Bergman, you owe it to yourself to see this.

Yes. It is. But all of the discs are available for separate rental from Netflix. (The theatrical version, the TV version, and the Making of...)

I'd love to own the whole thing!
