I like Twenty Four Eyes- it may verge on being too sweet and sentimental at times but Hideko's performance (i prefer to call her Hideko in this case), the humanist anti-war message and the beautiful setting i find very endearing. I can see why it was a massive hit in Japan and it's a pity it's been neglected in the West

Thanks for the response. I think Criterion should consider it for the U.S. market. After all, many of their releases have found a home in the U.K. with Eureka/MoC, who just put out Sansh day.
