I'd say that American Cinema 16 is slightly more accomplished than the British shorts, but it doesn't compare well with the European edition, which includes the work of the likes of Godard, Moretti, Kieslowski, Svankmajer, etc. Still, if you can find them at a good price, all of them are worthy enough to be a part of any collection.

Received my massive order from Subterranean cinema, but also picked up a few used DVD's.

Pretty Persuasion - I know everyone who saw this film hated it, but I've been far too curious to not want to see it.
The Beat That My Heart Skipped - still trying to get some newer French films.
3-Iron
Taking Sides
McCabe and Mrs. Miller

Is Bertolucci's film available in the US, or is it an import? I put off buying a cheap VHS copy of it because I figured the gods of DVD would visit it soon.

It's an Italian import: a 2 DVD-set with some amazing extra features, all subtitled. New Yorker probably still owns its rights for the U.S.

Just bought the 10th anniversary 3 disc special edition of "La Haine" for 8 G.B.P, that's under $15. There should be some very interesting extras plus it includes the soundtrack.

Cheers Trev.

Ordered a bunch to take advantage of the Kino sale at DVD planet (which is still running for another week or so). Unfortunately most of them are on backorder, so I only receved a few (which is still plenty).

Following (1999) Christopher Nolan
Shampoo (1975) Hal Ashby
Brian's Song (1971) Buzz Kulik
Garden's of Stone (1987) Francis Coppola
The Saga of Gosta Berling (1924) Mauritz Stiller
Erotikon (1920) Mauritz Stiller
The White Hell of Pitz Palu (1929) Arnold Franck and G.W. Pabst
A Short Film About Love (1988) Krzysztof Kieslowski
Cop Au Vin (1984) Claude Chabrol
Inspector Lavardin (1986) Claude Chabrol
Betty (1992) Claude Chabrol
The Color of Lies (1998) Claude Chabrol

Still more to come, but I'm so far behind it really doesn't matter.

Naked Gun (1988) David Zucker
The Talented Mr. Ripley (1999) Anthony Minghella
Spanglish (2004) James L. Brooks
The Fog (1979) John Carpenter
Chapelle's Show - The Lost Episodes

Serial Experiments Lain, the complete series on four dvds for an extremely reasonable 2 G.B.P, less than $4. Brilliant bargain from our Central Library, very interesting and stylish anime series.

Cheers Trev.
