The Count of Monte Cristo

I saw a screening of the newest addition of "The Count of Monte Cristo" today. It stars Jim Caviezel as Edmund Dantes/The Count of Monte Cristo, and Guy Pearce ("Memento") as Fernan Mondegaux (sp?). It was a great movie. I don't know how it will compare with the French miniseries that starred Gerard Dépardieu.

Ah, Jim Caviezel, what a terribly underrated actor. I am so impressed with his work in THE THIN RED LINE and FREQUENCY.

I was so excited when I heard about this movie, I re-read the Alexandre Dumas, père, novel - online at Project Gutenberg (http://digital.library.upenn.edu/webbin/gutbook/lookup?num=1184).
