For Asian action films, especially those from Hong Kong, I don't mind dubbed voices. Most of them are dubbed in post anyway, so what's the real difference? Besides, I hate to have to read subs while men are flying around onscreen trying to cut off each other's heads.

I would have to agree that subtitles are better. If you half know a lanuage, it is easier to tell when the subtitles are not exact translations.

After seeing "Inspector Morse" dubbed into Spanish and the French "Brotherhood of the Wolf" with English subtitles, I am afraid I have to agree with everyone else, I much prefer a film with substitles over one that has been dubbed into aonther Language.I

Don't know what the original poster's report is on, but I hope s/he doesn't think that the answers given here represent the public-at-large's. People here are like specialists.

Subtitles all the way here too.

Dubbing is a horrible condition for morons and idiots. Subtitles (unless a H&K native wrote them) is preferred (99.99%) most of the time.

I think you'll find that most people who watch a lot of international films prefer subtitling, as it preserves the original actors'/actresses' voices. It might take a bit longer to digest the film, but it is well worth it. Nothing kills a film experience quicker than bad dubbing. Of course there's the other situation where the subtitles are either bad or don't capture exactly or all of what is being said.
