Sep 12-29 - The Films of Jacques Becker:

After World War II, Becker began a body work that bridged the gap between the old guard of pre-war directors and the New Wave who began to emerge in the 1950s. Becker had this ability to linger over small, privately beautiful moments that others would just rush past.
The BAMcinematek will be showing nine of Becker's films, with eight rare imported prints from Sep 12th to Sep29th.

What a shame (for me) this isn't in Britain! I've long wanted to see Casque d'Or, which i understand is one of the great French romantic films. I would wholeheartedly recommend Le Trou, a gripping prison escape film. Becker deserves to be better known- Jean Renoir was an admirer.
