The obvious choices would be 8 1/2, La Dolce Vita, and Nights of Cabiria from Fellini, but be advised Juliet of the Spirits is an excellent film despite its mixed reception. Bergman is nearly invincible, and nearly every one of his films is excellent, but I would recommend hunting out his dreadfully unpopular Magician, a personal favorite of mine and his most underrated film.

I'd say Through a Glass Darkly and Winter Lights by Bergman and Nights of Cabiria by Fellini.

Fellini, I'd say his two best films are "Nights of Cabiria" and "8 1/2". And for Bergman, perhaps to grasp just a hint of the man's art, "The Seventh Seal" and "Persona".
