Best foreign films of 2002

Sorry if this topic has been posted, but I figured since all the critics are making their top ten lists this week...
these ones are my favs:

Talk to Her (Almodovar)
The Lady and the Duke (Rohmer)
Y Tu Mama Tambien (Cuaron)
The Piano Teacher (Haneke)
Artanajuarat-The Fast Runner
In Praise of Love (Godard)
Happy Times (Yimou)

Most of the films you posted are from 2001, not from 2002, as a matter of fact all of them are except for Happy Times, it is from 2000.

Perhaps there's some conflict between production dates and US release dates?

that maybe the case for some of us in the states, but what about those outsides the states. I just think we should stick to the dates the film first debuted. I for one get very confused when one calls them "Best foreign films of 2002 when in fact they were realsed a year or two earlier.

True, but I was meaning along the lines of films RELEASED in the U.S., and all these films were widely released in the States this year. For example, "Y Tu Mama Tambien" was released and nominated for the 2001 Oscars, but released in my city (Denver) this summer.

NO, Y tu mama tambien was not nominated for a 2001 Oscar. It was never nominated for that matter.
Tell you what stick to the dates they debuted.
