Has anyone else seen this underappreciated Spanish masterpiece from 1973? It is one of my all-time favorite films. I first saw it a decade ago, and it haunts me to this day.

Yes and it's my favourite Spanish film; such natural performances (little Ana Torrent is truly wonderful), intimate yet mysterious, exceptional cinematography, intricate use of decor and unusual colour schemes. It takes you into secret places- of a child's imagination- while always retaining a compelling feel for period and setting. A beautiful, deeply enigmatic, unpretentious little film that grows on repeated viewings.

Thank God, someone else has seen it! I got this film from my public library and it's one of the most unforgettable films I've ever seen. I also saw a Venezuelan film called ORIANA by Fina Torres that I really liked and the two remind me of each other.
