Foreign Influence

Can someone please tell me some direct inspiration American filmmakers have gained from foreign films? (Please specify which films, and please don't limit yourself!)

This would be a great help! And, this is also my first post.

Felini's work influenced many comedy directors... note the heavy "where's waldo" crowd scenes full of fun stuff happening in some new american flicks.

Can we say hong kong cinema and wire fu? There would be no matrix with "the killer" and "once upon a time in china".

Frances long camera shots and cool light textures that jump out of "Delicatesen" and "Le cite des enfants perdus" and into movies like Aliens 4.

Robert Rodrigue's anime with cojones directing style.
