Can you suggest a film to be used in a class on the French writer Proust that relates to late 19th century French society (Faubourg Saint-Germain)? Thanks.

Would " The Earrings of Madame De " fit your needs? It was directed by Max Orphuls from a novel by Louise Vilmorin, an interesting figure who was engaged to Antoine Saint-Euxpery in the 1920s. Supposedly he became a pilot because she broke off the engagement. She also conducted a literary salon after World War II in Paris where she promoted the careers of the likes of Francois Truffaut and Louis Malle.
