Can someone help identify Piaf film?

Hi all- in 1985 I saw a film on the life of Edith Piaf that was very emotional. It focused a lot on her early years; I specifically remember a shot of her as a baby in a dresser drawer; that's where her father kept her...lots of scenes of her very young in Paris, singing in the streets, first with her father, then on her own.. I remember the film as black and white, I could be wrong.
I suspect this could be the 1974 Guy Casaril directed Piaf.
I don't think it is the Jane LePotaire. I saw it in a small theater in the Village in NYC. Before I try and hunt down the 1974 film, I would love to be able to confirm that I am searching for the correct film. It was so long ago, I just remember the emotions and being swept away with the power of this movie. Does anyone know which movie I am looking for? Thanks for any help! June

June: Just a thought. Could the film be Edith and Marcel by Claude Lelouch, 1983? Good luck. Sam

Thanks Sam, for the input. I know it's not Edith and Marcel.
It was totally focused on Piaf, no other couple and airplane crash. At least now I know it's not that movie!
