It was subtitled in Portuguese which is the only version I know of. The film is mostly silent so it wasn't particularly hard to follow, the print could have been a little clearer though.

Great selection, as always. Don't recall you discussing the two new foreign films you watched this month: Eureka and East of Bucharest. Perhaps I missed a post or two in the LFS thread. In any case, I've seen a number of Aoyama films and Eureka is his best work by far. Glad to see that you also feel strongly about it. The Romanian film barely missed the cut for my Secondary Best of '07 list.

I don't recall posting on either film, I felt like I watched Eureka in a bit of a daze but quite an extraordinary film although I still don't think there's a R1 release of it. I'm just glad I got my output up for this month. I already have a definitive front runner for the worst film of July and I sincerely hope that nothing beats it.

The hardest decision was best film of the month considering how many favorites I re-watched this month. Persona however had the greatest impact on a re-watch and will at the very least wind up in my top 20 whenever I get around to updating my film list.

Nope, lamentably no R1 of Eureka at this point. But there are a number of foreign DVD editions available: Artificial-Eye put one out in the U.K., and so have distributors in HK, Taiwan (the two most affordable) and, of course, Japan.

I probably don't revisit as many films as you do, but Persona has certainly been an exception in that regard.

July was a fairly busy month for re-watches much more so than normal, although I'd really like to get cracking on this list and have a lot more re-watches to go, so depending on how my schedule works out I might just do even more this month.
