Actually this thread is supposed to be sarcastic. At least I hope it is, or this site is going downhill.

I'm not arguing that Raise the Red Lantern is anything other than a good film. My point is that previous posts have included Freddy Got Fingered and Jurassic Park 3 to name but two, so I doubt the sincerity of the posts.

Battlefield Earth, Waterworld, Jurrasic Park series, Barb Wire...'good movies'??

I really hope this is sarcastic. even if it is, the sarcasm is killing me! :)

Funniest Ever: "Mrs. Doubtfire" and "There is something about Mary".

Again, can't quite work out if this is serious or not. Personally I thought There's Something About Mary was one of the most dismally unfunny films I've ever had the misfortune to watch, while I rather enjoyed Mrs Doubtfire despite the cloying sentimentality seemingly endemic to Robin Williams films.

But seriously, folks...

Otto e mezzo
La règle du jeu
Le thé au harem d’Arquimèdes
Walkabout
The seventh seal
Manhattan
Ju Dou
The seven samurai
Jean de Florette / Manon des sources
La caza
The third man
Il Gattopardo
Paris, Texas
Before the rain
À bout de souffle
The servant

Anyone of these films are, in my opinion, perfect.
