1. "Y tu mama tambien," man! that's overrated. You try watching it ten times you'll see how overrated it is.
2. I might get hell for this, "Citizen Kane"
3. "Like Water for Chocolate"
4. "Talk to Her"--It's a good flick, I just wouldn't make it win an Oscar...

No thanks. I had enough trouble getting through it once.

Fellini's Satyricon is pretty overrated.

I think Y Tu Mama Tambien is a wonderful film. I've had no problems getting through it twice. After eight more viewings I'll get back to you.

I find THE SEVENTH SEAL perfunctory. From my humble Spanish perspective, it is surprising the success that Bergman has in American public opinion, even in Woody Allen.
I recognize that my fellow-countryman Bunuel can be really surrealistic and obscure sometimes. But I propose to see the film TRISTANA, that I consider better than the more famous VIRIDIANA. It is about the same subject, the fight of women (and mankind) against hypocrite rules of societies.

My list:

1) Fellini films: I've been a Felliniphile most of my
years watching European films. As I've grown older
I'm troubled by the idea he was less interested artist
and more artful dodger.
2)Does anyone remember "Mediterraneo"?
3)Truffaut's "Shoot the Piano Player" and everything after
"Day for Night"
4)Cocteau's Beauty and the Beast
5)Seven Samurai

The only movie I'll list is "Cinema Paradiso".

Now don't get me wrong... I liked the film. I don't think it was bad. But I thought it was very overrated. Perhaps I had over-hyped expectations but while I thought the movie was watchable and enjoyable, it certainly wouldn't be in any of my top foreign films.

Cinema Paradiso...I know, and that additional 53-minute footage totally ruined it. I'm talking about the new DVD that came out.

Agree on Cinema Paradiso. It's actually kinda glib, or shallow. What I wonder is how Andrei Rublev can be overrated? Is that even possible? lol

I disagree about Cocteau's Beauty and the Beast being over-rated. I've seen a lot of his films and I think that as a director he is under-rated
