Yeah, there's many Zen Buddhist elements in Ozu's work. If you liked Late Spring, you should watch An Autumn Afternoon, which a retelling of the same story, but wonderfully elegiac. It was the last film he made before he died, and although he didn't mean for it to be the last, at the end the camera takes one final look around the empty house, as though saying goodbye. It tears me up!
