Info needed for small Latino festival

Postby trevor826 » Wed Oct 11, 2006 8:08 am

We have a three day festival of Latino cinema coming up and just wondered if anyone could advise on any of the films.

El Destino No Tiene Favoritos (Destiny Has No Favourites) - Alvaro Velarde (2003)

Iluminados por el Fuego (Blessed by Fire) - Tristn Bauer (2005)

Play - Alicia Scherson (2005)

Mi Mejor Enemigo (My Best Enemy) - Alex Bowen (2005)

La Ultima Cena (The Last Supper) - Toms Gutirrez Alea (1976). I'm pretty sure I've seen this before.

En la Cama - Matas Bize (2005)

Guantanamera - Toms Gutirrez Alea (1995). Again I'm pretty sure I've already seen it.

Ysgol Trelew - Russel Isaac (2006) A short concerning the attempts to build a Welsh-medium school in Trelew, Patagonia.

Mujeres Infieles (Unfaithful Women) - Rodrigo Ortuzar (2004)

La Suerta est Echada (The Die is Cast) - Sebastin Borensztein (2005)

Havana Blues - Benito Zambrano (2005)

They are also screening Nine Queens which I've seen a couple of times and rather tenuously linked Nacho Libre.

Any opinions would be welcome.

Cheers Trev.

Can't really help you with this one.
I' have only heard of Zambrano's HaBana Blues and wanted to see it myself. I believe it won a lot of awards and the audience also liked it very much.
