Portuguese,Bulgarian and Romanian films are hardly known or shown in Britain. The wonderful Abraham Valley,by the incredible, increasingly prolific nonagenarian(!)Manoel de Oliveira,is the only Portuguese film available here on video.Anyone know where i might get hold of his other films,e.g Aniki Bobo,Amor de Perdicao,No or the Vain glory of Command, on video?(At least Vou na Casa should be released this year)I've read up on Romania and Bulgaria but their films,e.g The Attached Balloon,The Goat Horn,Hare Census,The Peach Thief,Iconostasis,The Unknown Soldier's Patent Leather Shoes(Bulgaria);Reconstruction,The Forest of the Hanged, and Sequences(Romania)remain a fascinating mystery to me.I'd be grateful for opinions on these and other films from the 3 countries.

I haven't heard of anything out of Romania, Bulgaria, or Portugal. But then again I live in the States. Both Britain and the U.S. could get a screening of a movie from Iran, but it's impossible to see one from Bulgaria.
