Could I have your opinions on a few of these films?
Theorem (pasolini)or any other films by him
Tokyo Story (ozu) is it overrated?
La collectioneuse (rohmer)
film adaptations of crime and punishment
Hands up! (skolimowski)
A scene at the sea (Kitano)
Le mepris (Godard)
Thats it for now.

A SCENE AT THE SEA is my favourite Takeshi film. Much of his yakuza output is all too familiar. It's about a mute garbage collector who decides to quit his job and learn to surf. Not nearly so much focus on the modern Japanese male's positions of masculinity. It's sedate and eventually sad. I don't find TOKYO STORY anything less than typical of Ozu's highest standards although I don't believe it should necessarily remain the typical access point to Ozu's films. I'll limit myself to the Japanese component of this list. :)
