I saw an episode of Lain two or three years ago, rather strange if I remember correctly.

Got more in the mail from a slow and steady supply.

The rest of the Subeterranean films came:

La Region Centrale Michael Snow
The Innocent Luchino Visconti
The Seaferers Stanley Kubrick

This now means that I have all of Kubrick's films, so more to add to that thread, ahem A, arsaib?

Also got a few more from Kino

A Double Tour Claude Chabrol
L'Enfer Claude Chabrol
The Tempest Derek Jarman
Que Viva Mexico Sergei Eisenstein
Diary of a Lost Girl G.W. Pabst
Lilliom Fritz Lang
Hangmen Also Die Fritz Lang
Circle of Deceit Volker Schlondorff

Griffith Masterworks - D. W. Griffith:
The Birth of a Nation
Intolerance
Broken Blossoms
Orphans of the Storm
Biograph Shorts

I'll try and make an appropriate thread for the short films seeing how they're the only films in the bunch I'll be watching anytime soon.

I wonder sometimes if I'm the only person buying these blasted things.

Today in the mail I got Fritz Lang's Woman in the Moon (1929) and Jan Svankmajer's Consiprators of Pleasure (1996).

At a convention I also picked up some Asian films

The Promise (2005)
Sympathy for Mr. Vengence (2002)
Sympathy for Lady Vengence (2005)
Takeshis' (2005)
Blood and Bones (2004)
Full Metal Yakuza (1997)
Silver (1999)
MPD Psycho (2000)

I'll try and get some appropriate comments for the Miike and Kitano films.

Re: MPD Psycho, did you buy the complete series? Should be interesting to hear your opinion on this and some of the other films you've bought recently.

I don't think I got the complete series, or even knew of there being more than one film. I'll try and get something written about them, but christ the pile of dvd's to watch has turned into several rather large pile(s), and christ knows if they'll ever get smaller.

More new arrivals from the slowly filtering in Kino films.

A Short Film About Killing - Kieslowski
That Day - Ruiz
Spies - Lang

I'm noticing some rather extravagent running times on most of Fritz Lang's silent work, Dr. Mabuse: The Gambler, Die Nibelungen (both parts), Metropolis, Spies, and Woman in the Moon are all over two hours, and some quite a bit over. It seems strange then that most of his work in the sound era carried a much shorter running time. I plan on starting some sort of Lang thread to cover the numerous films of his I've recently covered, and I might offer links to the previous films of his already reviewed (Big Heat and Woman in the Window).

I'd love to see Imamura's Black Rain it's one of those films you hear so much about plus what's included in the Kaurismaki box set?

re MPD Psycho, it was released in the UK on three discs, parts 1 - 6, could be completely different in the US, please let me know if that is the case.

It definitely isn't three discs, and runs under 2 hours. I'm also curious about the Kaurismaki boxed set, and also what region it is.
