Great films indeed. And they are actually both averaging well above a 9 but I don't think they have enough votes yet to make the top 100. Hopefully more people will vote for them, because Paradjanov needs to be represented in there somewhere!

The Colour of Pomegrantes is ( i know the terms are overused, but here they're genuinely deserved)- a film of astonishing, mesmerising beauty and originality. Yes, it would be encouraging to have a bit more diversity in the top 100, but some styles aren't for all tastes, so i'd be surprised if any Paradjanov entries maintained a very high average for long. Then again, Tarkovsky's masterpieces Mirror and Stalker have stayed the ground better than i'd expected, so i may be quite wrong. Ashik Kerib is well worth seeing, too; more playful than Pomegranates.

My favorites of his are actually Shadows of Our Forgotten Ancestors and The Legend of Suram Fortress.

By the way, as far as Russian directors go, I think Tarkovsky's Andrei Rublev should be much higher than it is, but I'm happy with the positions of Stalker and The Mirror.
