That's a pretty good deal for some very nice films.

It was, especially since most of them had only been rented a few times, they were all in excellent condition. I'm glad that I have good contacts in both the local major rental shops, the managers and staff always let me know if they have good offers coming.

The only shame is that Steamboy only has the English dub, same as the theatrical release.

Went to a comic convention, and bought nothing but DVD's.

Soprano's Season 6, part 1
The Streetfighter (1974)
Gozu (2003)
Pistol Opera (2001)

. . . and a double feature from that "master" Jess Franco:
Tender Flesh (1997) and Lust of Frankenstein (1998)

The complete short works of Jan Svankmajer? i wonder if they are really complete. If so, this set is probably something for me

Could you list the interesting extras on the UK Science of Sleep DVD, Trevor? I'd like to compare them to the German release. I love the film. Hey, I just recalled that I forgot to list it as one of my favorites in the Best & Worst Forum. I'll fix that immediately. I've also bought lots of DVDs recently (in expectation of my first big payment this year, I got a bit over-enthusiastic at the Videostore.
My best this year was 10 (used) DVDs for 40 Euros.

Quote:Trevor826Taxidermia (2006) - Gyrgy Plfi

Which company released it? Theatrically, it was released only in Austria but not in Germany up to now, so I'm still looking forward to see it.

Detektive / Detectives (West Germany 1969, Rudolf Thome)
(great double disc-set without english subtitles - a shame as it's a very important work in germany's cinematic history in the manner of the "Nouvelle vague)

And always looking for the cheapest discs...;-)

Ator, the Invincible (Italy 1982, Joe D'Amato)

Zieh' dich aus, Puppe! / Get naked, doll! (West Germany 1968, kos Rthonyi)

2001: A space Odyssey (UK 1965/68, Stanley Kubrick)

I'd say it's comprehensive in its coverage of Svankmajer's shorts, every one is covered from The Last Trick (1964) to Food (1992) spread over 2 dual layer discs.

A third disc, also dual layer is jam packed with extras such as work done for other directors, documentaries including one made for Channel 4 by the Quay brothers, interviews etc.

Also included is a booklet with notes on each of the shorts.

All in all, an excellent package and highly recommended.

Could you list the interesting extras on the UK Science of Sleep DVD, Trevor? I'd like to compare them to the German release.

Audio commentary by Writer/Director Michel Gondry, Charlotte Gainsbourg and Gael Garca Bernal
The Making of The Science of Sleep
Featurette on Lauri Faggioni, Creator of Animals and Accessories
Linda Serbu 'Rescue Me' Music Video

Probably the same as the German release but I thought the "making of" was particularly entertaining and enlightening.

Taxidermia was released by Tartan Video in the UK, extras include 'Making of' documentary, Production notes and Trailers.

Thanks. The Svankmajer discs sound like a must have!
I'll check the German Science of Sleep DVD for comparisons.

@R6dw6C

I hope you won't be watching 2001 without me!
But the other two sound great as well. Maybe a triple bill at the Komm with 2001 at the end
