Looking for name of film... A woman wins some money, and with the money, she cooks an incredible meal for some townspeople. The entire film is of her making this meal. Saw it in Europe, black/white, w/subtitles, then saw a remake in color.

Well, my first thought was Babette's Feast, Danish, directed by Axel, starring Stephane Audran as a servant who was once a top Parisian chef, and who wins the lottery, spends the money on a splendid meal for her religious friends, the like of which they've never known. But it was in colour and i don't know of it being a remake.

Yes, it is "Babette's Feast", a movie that is, along with "Big Night" and the "Dinner Rush", one of the greatest of all cooking-food films, perhaps the best.

If Babette's Feast had been made earlier then the Gabriel Axel then they did not credit Isak Dinesen who wrote the original novel as her IMDB profile list only one version of the film.
