dark film where the anti hero has no hope like bergman on speed.(just joking)classic noir= detour, the big combo, criss cross, out of the past, pickup on south street, scarlet street, sunset boulevarde, double indemnity, laura, they say

renoir's toni was the first noir, daybreak, pepe le moko are other french classics from the 30's. there are so many great films
to see in the genre i've only mentioned a handfull of the top of my head.all the films are of a cynical nature full of unredeemimg characters which is why we love them.

hope i've been of some help

thanks a lot gratefultiger but err i coult not make out exatly what film-noir is?
you said "an hero who has noe hope" is it the same in every film-noirs? or is there any other features of film-noirs?
err i saw just one film-noir ( if it is considered as film-noir) "the man who wasnt there" and it was great. for example yes the hero had no hope but does it only make it film-noir? err i would be gratefull :)) if you tell more... thanks in advance see u !

film noir is the cinema of alienation, despair, hopelessness, accentuated by dark shadows ,rainy streets & inescapable situations, always a sense of foreboding the lighting is very important in noir, german expressionism is an obvious influence on noir cinema. try and see those films i suggested "detour" is a must a low budget classic which is the essence of noir
just see them then you will know happy viewing.
