Can you really not understand why a person who isn't from your country would be a bit sick of hearing about the place all the time? I live 10,000 miles away from the USA, but 75% of my daily life is related to it. There are much more pressing issue that need to be brought to the forefront of world thinking than the obvious amount of racism that exists in your country, a place that gets far too much attention as it is.

Surely an intelligent person like yourself can understand that.

Here's my top 15 (couldn't get it down to 10, and can't order them) "new" films that were first shown in Oz in 2005. I realise the list could potentially look a bit odd to people from countries who are a little ahead of the Aussie's in terms of release dates.

2046 - Wong Kar-Wai (HK)
10e chambre: Instants d'audience - Raymond Depardon (FRA)
All Tomorrow's Parties - Yu Lik-Wai (CHI)
Cach - Michael Haneke (FRA)
Chats perchs - Chris Marker (FRA)
Darwin's Nightmare - Hubert Sauper (NET)
L'Enfant - Dardenne Brothers (BEL)
L'Intrus - Clare Denis (FRA)
Melancholian 3 huonetta - Pirjo Honkasalo (FIN)
Last Days - Gus van Sant (USA)
Los Muertos - Lisandro Alonso (ARG)
Promised Land - Amos Gitai (ISR)
Shijie - Jia Zhang-Ke (CHI)
Sud pralad - Apichatpong Weerasethakul (THA)
The White Diamond - Werner Herzog (USA)

*The country indicates where most if not all of the cash came from, not the director.

Have seen one, want to see the rest. You're very lucky to get all this films to your cinema. I'm in Berlin for a year now, but 6 of them haven't arrived here and the others I missed I'm really bad when it comes to recent films, as most of the films I see at home and in the cinema are from the last century

Saw Cach by Haneke. I rated it 85, maybe doesn't say much to you, but for me it's short of a masterpiece. Enjoyed it immensly and it may end on my year end Top Ten. What I didn't like, was that the video-camera device was just that - a device. Could have done without it. But still a great charcter portrait of agonized Auteuil, and at the same time also a bit of a social study. My third favorite Haneke film so far.

Wasn't that the point? People watching and judging others through such devices? Haven't you done that by watching the film in the first place?

Man arsaib, you have seen really a loooot from last year. I guess you have caught up with some in 2006?
I thought 2005 was a rather weak year, but hell, I haven't seen most of your 50+ recommendations. Now I have much to look forward to.

Hehe. Yeah, it might look like I mentioned a lot of films, but, believe me, it was very difficult to leave out quite a few others from the nearly 275 films from 2005 that I watched. (Yes, some were seen in 2006 and a few prior to their release last year.)
