I thought about re-starting this topic, but honestly I wonder if top tens are enough. I mean they're simple, and can offer some great recomendations to visitors, but can ten films really describe your taste in movies? There are films and directors I absolutely love that wouldn't be represented in a top ten or twenty, or hell maybe even 50. Some directors are a blast to watch but don't have any specifically great films, particularly Seijin Suzuki and his American counterpart Samuel Fuller. That said I still will chime in, although mine hasn't really modified much.
8 (1963) - Federico Fellini
Weekend (1967) - Jean Luc Godard
To Live (1994) - Zhang Yimou
Napoleon (1927) - Abel Gance
La Dolce Vita (1960) - Federico Fellini
Landscape in the Mist (1988) - Theo Angeloupolus
Berlin Alexanderplatz (1980) - Rainer Werner Fassbinder
Andrzej Wajdas Warsaw Trilogy: A Generation, Kanal, Ashes and Diamonds (1954,1957,1958) - Andrzej Wajda
The Color of Pomegranates (1969) - Sergei Paradjanov
The Man With a Movie Camera (1929) - Dziga Vertov
I know it hasn't changed much, but well it takes a lot to shake my top ten.
