Girl, Interrupted (1999)
Wow talk about a movie I didn't want to watch a second time. I enjoyed the film the first time, unlike most people, and I feel a personal connection to all of the characters in the film, but there are some flaws. I really didn't like the scene near the end where crazy Lisa reads Susie's diary to all the inmates, seemed a pointless touch of final drama. Crazy people are always gravy for actors especially around Oscar season. I don't think Angelina Jolie deserved the Oscar, and certainly hasn't done anything since to prove she can act.
Winona Ryder is obviously the more sympathetic character, because it's slanted towards her. Although she's several years older than the real character, she still has enough youthful looks to pull it off. The only scenes one might think she plays weak is when she's "acting out". I think this is a good touch, because she's not really crazy, she's merely immitating the crazy behavior of those around her. I would like to hear some more feedback about this movie, it does have it's charms, and I'm quickly becomming the world's foremost authority on it.
