Distance is a recent,2001,film by Japanese director Hirokazu Kore-eda,who directed the excellent After Life and the utterly exquisite and rather mysterious Maborosi.I've not seen Distance, however, but understand it's about 4 relatives of terrorist cult members in Japan, who go off into a forest together.A change of tack for Kore-eda,but the critical reception has been disappointing.

Looking back through previous messages,i saw your phrase"my kindred spirits".I like that.Have a lovely day yourself! These days of cultural dumbing down,in Britain at least, with ever fewer films not in English screened on T.V,-the BBC's become a shameful culprit-and with so many people dismissive of World Cinema ("can't cope with subtitles","it's all boring arthouse"),anyone who's interested or involved in this site is to be commended,i'd say.Even if our opinions will naturally differ:after all, that's what makes it more interesting and encourages exploration.
