If journalist Subhashni Saigal (Shabana Azmi) is going to keep her job, she'll have to come up with a big story that satisfies her power-hungry boss. When she dreams up a martyr named Azaad, she unwittingly creates a media sensation and is forced to recruit a homeless man (Amitabh Bachchan) to pose as the make-believe hero.
