This Bollywood love story from the 1960s stars Indian cinema's melancholic princess, Meena Kumari, as a girl betrothed to one man and in love with another. When she turns runaway bride in search of her heart's desire, she doesn't find her beau waiting in the wings. Her family refuses to take her back, but will the scorned man forgive her? Maybe a tearful ballad or two will be convincing. The film's songs, by Roshan, are melodic and memorable.
