Following the Spanish Civil War, Communist party leader Diego Mora (Yves Montand) travels to France to track down a fellow revolutionary (Jean-François Rémi) marked for death by Franco's regime. But Mora's fame precedes him, sparking legal trouble that a resourceful young associate (Genevieve Bujold) attempts to solve.
