Insatiable Vincenzo Macaluso (Carlo Giuffrè) has his eyes set on a pretty Sicilian girl, so he sends his minions to her village to retrieve her. When his men return with her cousin, Asunta (Monica Vitti), Vincenzo beds her against her will. Afraid her reputation will be ruined, Asunta implores him to marry her, but Vincenzo refuses and flees the country -- with Asunta in hot pursuit. The film received an Oscar nod for Best Foreign Language Film.
