After decades of self-imposed exile since Spain's civil war, Nobel Prize-winning author Antonio Albajara (Antonio Ferrandis) pays a visit to his hometown. During his nostalgic stopover, he returns to his old haunts and crosses paths with a former flame (Encarna Paso). But as they start to fall in love again, a terminal illness may derail the rekindled romance. Director Jose Luis Garci's wistful drama won an Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film.
