Midge Kelly (Kirk Douglas) is a talented boxer but a horrible person. He rises to the top of his sport, but fame and wealth quickly seduce him, and he revels in the glory of being a star. Eventually, Kelly alienates everyone who's helped him -- and finds himself completely alone.
