Playwright Craig Lucas transforms his play for the big screen in this noirish drama starring Campbell Scott as Jeffrey, a studio exec desperate to stay at the top of the heap as he sets out to quash the creativity of a screenwriter (Peter Sarsgaard) who's penned a script about his lover's death from AIDS. Jeffrey's willing to take on the project, but only if the main character is changed from a man to a woman -- which would alter the film's soul.
