Based on a story penned by Bret Harte, this offbeat Western stars John Payne as crafty professional cardsharp Tennessee, who gets bailed out of trouble by a quick-on-the-draw stranger known as Cowpoke (Ronald Reagan). The two become chummy, but their new friendship is soon put to the test by an alluring gold-digger (Coleen Gray). Rhonda Fleming plays the owner of the town gambling hall, and Angie Dickinson appears in a bit part as a saloon girl.
