Reggie Dunlop (Paul Newman) used to live the high life as a hockey star. Now, he coaches a minor-league hockey team that's on the skids. When Dunlop realizes that playing dirty excites crowds, he turns his team into a goon squad of thugs whose popularity grows the longer they stew in the penalty box.
