Directed with gusto by Sam Peckinpah, this seminal Western stars Charlton Heston as the titular Maj. Amos Dundee, a Union Army officer marshaling assorted deserters and Confederate detainees into Mexico to apprehend a band of rampaging Apaches. But to succeed, he must team with the Confederate prisoners' leader (Richard Harris) -- who's sworn to kill Dundee when their mission is over. The sterling cast includes James Coburn and Senta Berger.
