While on a quest to make his fortune in 1800s Barcelona, young Spaniard Onofre Bouvila (Olivier Martinez) meets a beautiful woman (Emma Suarez) who's passionate about life and local politics, and before long, they fall deeply in love. But just as quickly, Onofre realizes that if he wants to succeed in the big city, he'll have to compromise his ideals -- and risk disappointing a woman he respects. Mario Camus directs this moving historical drama.
