After divorced nurse Denise Di Fiori (Annabeth Gish) loses her job, she tries to reclaim her life by accepting a post caring for head trauma patients at a rehab facility, where she meets 25-year-old Rick Spencer (Ethan Embry). Determined to help the brain-damaged Rick become more autonomous, Denise works with him tirelessly but finds herself locking horns with his controlling father (Ed Begley Jr.) in this made-for-TV drama.
