Yearning for anonymity, a famous artist (Roland Young) assumes the identity of his dead butler -- a man who just happens to look like his twin -- and stands by as his true identity dies. It all sounds like a great idea, until the late man's family shows up and the artist must pretend to be himself again, endangering his newfound relationship with a woman (Lillian Gish) who thinks he's someone else.
