This classic of Czech new wave cinema follows seven friends in a little Moravian village as they cope with the socialization of their homeland. At the heart of their story is Frantisek (Radoslav Brzobohatý), whose resistance to the change defines his life. This film was banned by the Soviets after the invasion of Czechoslovakia in 1968, but won two awards at the Cannes Film Festival the next year.
