Laid-back Kentucky judge Billy Priest (Will Rogers) presides over a murder case involving town recluse Bob Gillis (David Landau), orphaned woman Ellie May (Anita Louise) and the love-struck attorney Jerome Priest (Tom Brown) -- who is the nephew of the easygoing judge. But when his objectivity is questioned, the judge steps down and helps solve the case in this early work from John Ford, who later remade the film as The Sun Shines Bright.
