In a role that's a far cry from the hard-boiled characters she later became associated with, Ida Lupino plays an innocent beauty whom an actor (Francis Lederer) mistakes for his mistress in a darkened theater in this 1936 romantic comedy. When the thespian is caught kissing the fresh-faced stranger, he's prosecuted as a masher -- a charge he can't protest without revealing the identity of his mistress. A zany trial ensues.
