When amateur crooner Verne Brand (Ferlin Husky) returns home to Tennessee following a tour of duty in the Army, his buddies Al and Lou (Al Fisher and Lou Marks) convince Sonny Moon (Jesse White), the head honcho of a record label in New York, to sign him on as a country artist. At a nightclub, actress Zsa Zsa Gabor takes an interest in the rising star, much to the chagrin of Marietta (June Carter Cash), Verne's sweetheart back home.
