Throughout the 1980s, Jeunet and Caro brought their unique blend of surreal visual imagery and dark humor to the short films, commercials and music videos that established their reputations. The pair made their first feature film in 1991, Delicatessen. The success of this effort allowed the men to pursue their dream project -- The City of Lost Children, a film 14 years in the making.
Jeunet followed this success with his first solo directorial effort, Alien: Resurrection (1994). It would be seven years before Jeunet released another film, but it was his best, the Oscar-nominated Amelie. In 2004, he helmed A Very Long Engagement.
